The essay prompt for the final exam will be number 1:

1. The legislative and Executive branches have constitutional authority in different areas of government. There are many areas in which authority is split between the legislative and the executive such as over judicial and cabinet nominees, treaties, war powers, and bureaucratic administration. Describe the extent of authority each branch has in each of these areas and explain the ways in which conflicts arise and are resolved. Be sure to give examples of these conflicts.

Remember, if you intend to write your essay portion of the exam as a take-home essay, it must be submitted at 6:30 pm sharp at the start of the final exam period on Wed., Dec. 12. It should be typed, double-spaced, and proof-read.

The essay prompt for the midterm will be No. 2 on the study guide:

Describe the development of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties in this country. Be sure to include an explanation of what is meant by these terms. You answer should include a discussion of pertinent Constitutional provisions, Supreme Court decisions, legislation, political movements and tactics.

If you wish to write the essay portion of the exam as a take-home, you must turn it in at the start of class on Oct. 3, 6:30pm. It should be typed and double spaced.
